VDW Symposium in Kuala Lumpur facilitates market access
The German machine tool industry is broadening its global market presence following pandemic-induced disruptions. The VDW (German Machine Tool Builders’ Association) hosted the Innovations in Production Technology Symposium on 10 July 2024 in Kuala Lumpur to help members explore growth opportunities in Malaysia. “The Malaysian machine tool market holds potential exceeding 700 million euros, with Germany currently holding an 8 percent share,” stated Klaus-Peter Kuhnmünch of VDW. Eight German high-tech firms, including DMG Mori and Chiron, presented to 110 Malaysian trade visitors and participated in 48 B2B meetings.
Malaysia, a key ASEAN market, aims to boost domestic value creation and job quality, with expected investments in aerospace, electronics, and medical technology sectors. German firms view Malaysia as a prime location for diversification due to its political stability, robust economy, legal security, and infrastructure. The VDW anticipates rising demand for German machine tools, valued for their precision and technology, which support Malaysia’s industrial modernization.
