Reimagining Rotary Motion for Modern Manufacturing

In a rapidly evolving manufacturing environment, the demand for speed, precision, and reliability continues to grow. UCAM, a pioneer in rotary indexing solutions, has addressed these needs with its Direct Drive Rotary (DDR) Tables—a product line that eliminates traditional mechanical limitations to deliver unmatched performance. By replacing conventional gear or belt drives with a direct torque motor directly coupled to the turntable, UCAM’s DDR series achieves zero backlash, minimal wear, and exceptional positional accuracy. This design philosophy positions UCAM’s DDR tables as a cornerstone of precision machining for industries where every second and micron count.

The Direct Drive Advantage
At the core of UCAM’s DDR rotary tables is a gearless drive system that combines simplicity with advanced engineering. The elimination of gears and belts not only removes mechanical play but also drastically reduces maintenance requirements. These systems ensure consistent accuracy over extended operating cycles.

Key attributes such as high acceleration, smooth motion, and silent operation make DDR Rotary tables ideal for demanding applications. Furthermore, UCAM’s natural cooling design enhances thermal stability without requiring external chillers, contributing to energy efficiency and lower operating costs. Together, these features deliver superior dynamic performance—an essential advantage for manufacturers seeking faster indexing and higher throughput.

Product Highlights: Power, Precision, and Versatility

UCAM’s DDR products are categorized into three main systems to suit various manufacturing needs:

Direct Drive Rotary Table

UDDR 200R-50P –Compact High-Speed Performer

A 4th Axis CNC solution engineered for compact machining centers. It offers a Turn Table Diameter of Ø200 mm. It provides a Peak Torque of 300 Nm and a Max. Speed (No Load Speed) of 200 rpm. With Indexing Accuracy of 10 Arc sec. and Repeatability of 4 Arc sec., it provides exceptional precision for continuous machining. The direct-drive configuration ensures Zero backlash excellent surface finish in continuous machining —ideal for light weight and electronic component machining.

Direct Drive Production System

UDDRi 300/75PS

Built for high-volume production, the UDDRi 300/75PS is a 4th Axis CNC system that includes a Rigid and robust design with faceplate tailstock support. It has a Turn Table Diameter of 180 mm and a Center Height (Without Baseplate) of 150 mm. It features a Peak Torque of 250 Nm and a Continuous Torque of 75 Nm. The system has a Max. Load Capacity of 200 kg. A key feature is that the Fixture Interchangeable between URPQ series. Its reliability, precision, and maintenance-free operation make it a robust choice for automated production lines where uptime is critical.

Direct Drive Tilting Rotary Table

UDDRi 130/30TN – Compact 5-Axis Capability

The UDDRi 130/30TN combines rotary and tilting axes for full 5th Axis CNC functionality in a compact footprint. The Turn Table Diameter-Rotary Axis is Ø60 mm. The Rotary Axis delivers Peak torque of 130 Nm and Rated speed of 200 rpm. The Tilt Axis reaches Peak torque of 200 Nm and Rated speed of 100 rpm. A Tilting Range of +110/-30 deg allows complex contour machining. The Indexing Accuracy for both Rotary and Tilt Axes is 10 Arc sec.. Its Compact and cantilever design allow it to fit a small VMC, making it ideal for aerospace, medical, and mold applications.

Quantifiable Performance Gains

UCAM’s DDR series demonstrates measurable advantages over traditional worm-gear rotary tables. Across all models, indexing accuracy improves from ±30–60 arc seconds (typical for mechanical drives) to ±7.5–10 arc seconds . Cycle times are reduced by 25–40%. The no gear or belt design eliminates wear points, significantly reducing maintenance costs, while the smooth, silent operation enhances tool life and part surface finish.

By adopting UCAM’s DDR systems, manufacturers gain higher throughput, tighter tolerances, and longer service intervals—all critical metrics in precision production.

Applications Across Precision Industries

From automotive component machining to aerospace part contouring and medical device manufacturing, UCAM’s DDR tables deliver consistent results in multi-axis operations. Their compact form, rigidity, and speed make them suitable for light to medium-duty applications that demand high throughput and accuracy. The seamless integration with CNC systems enhances flexibility, enabling multi-face machining without repositioning.

Conclusion: Redefining Rotary Performance

UCAM’s DDR tables represent a leap forward in rotary motion technology. By combining high torque, zero backlash, and maintenance-free operation, the UDDR 200R-50P, UDDRi 300/75PS, and UDDRi 130/30TN exemplify engineering innovation that directly impacts manufacturing efficiency. Whether it’s reducing cycle time or achieving micron-level precision, UCAM’s direct-drive technology empowers manufacturers to achieve more—faster, smarter, and with greater reliability.
