The sharpening company VOLLMER has released the VGrind infinity linear, a next-generation tool grinding machine that can handle an endless number of grinding tasks. The machine’s motto is “One for all.” The machine sets new standards for flexibility, accuracy, and automation in making rotary tools, whether they are for small batches, unique tools, or large-scale series production.
The VGrind infinite linear can machine precise tools with diameters from 0.2 mm to 200 mm. It can use a variety of cutting materials, such as carbide, high-speed steel (HSS), PcBN, or ceramic. It lets producers meet the highest requirements in tool production while keeping performance consistent by combining speed, precision, and energy efficiency.
Endless Flexibility, Unmatched Accuracy

The VGrind infinity linear’s two vertically mounted grinding spindles are what set it apart. They make multi-level machining quick and easy. This new design gets rid of the frequent mistakes that happen with fixed and floating bearing systems in older machines. Also, the grinding wheel at the pivot point of the C-axis makes sure that the work is done with great accuracy. The linear motor drives on the X, Y, and Z axes don’t wear out, so they provide long-term stability and repeatability.
Depending on the type of tool and the material being cut, manufacturers can set the spindle speed and power to their exact needs. The optimized spindle transmission ratio keeps the torque and energy efficiency constant, and the strong machine construction and smart cooling system keep the cutting edge stable and accurate. A special warm-up algorithm gets the machine to thermal equilibrium in just a few minutes. Once the settings are right, production may commence automatically.
Smart Integration and Automation

The VGrind infinite linear may be automated in several ways such that it can run 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The HP 170 pallet magazine can hold up to 900 shank-type tools. The HC 4 and HC 4 Plus chain magazines can hold both shank-type and HSK tools. An inbuilt pallet loader can hold up to 300 tools, and an eight-position grinding wheel changer gives you the most freedom.
An integrated IoT gateway gives the machine digital connectivity, which lets it send and receive data in real time with digital systems for monitoring, diagnostics, and process optimization.
Made to Handle Any Problem
The VGrind infinite linear can handle any level of precision machining, from extremely small micro tools (0.2 mm) to very big drills and milling cutters (200 mm in diameter and 360 mm in length). Steady rest systems work with both short and long tools, and they have a built-in laser measuring system that makes sure they are very accurate.
Limitless Options
Tobias Trautmann, Managing Director of VOLLMER, states, “With the VGrind infinity linear, customers can automatically make tools of different sizes or shapes, from small batches to series production.” “It really deserves the name ‘infinity’ because it opens up endless possibilities for customized tool grinding.”
The VGrind infinity linear, which is backed by VOLLMER’s global expertise and innovation-driven engineering, changes the game for precision tool grinding. It makes the idea of unlimited flexibility a reality for manufacturers all over the world.
