Seco has announced the launch of TS0501, a breakthrough Duratomic® finishing grade designed to deliver unrivalled performance in turning modern high-hardness superalloys. Engineered specifically for lights-out machining, the TS0501 sets a new industry standard for tool life, surface finish, and process reliability in demanding sectors such as aerospace, energy, and high-performance engineering.

Redefining Precision and Productivity

Superalloy machining has long been one of manufacturing’s toughest challenges, especially as industries increasingly rely on advanced materials such as next-generation high-hardness alloys and proven workhorses like Inconel 718. The TS0501 enters this landscape as Seco’s most advanced finishing solution yet—built to withstand extreme heat, resist rapid wear, and deliver consistent, flawless results even in unmanned operations.

This new grade leverages Seco’s latest Duratomic® coating technology, combined with a highly optimized cutting-edge geometry that ensures stable, predictable machining. Whether the requirement is superior surface integrity, minimal dimensional deviation, or extended tool life, the TS0501 delivers across all parameters.

Engineered for the Realities of Modern Production

The TS0501’s exceptional thermal stability and wear resistance make it ideal for industries where failure is not an option. Aerospace components, turbine parts, engine housings, and structural elements demand extreme accuracy—something the TS0501 meets with confidence.

To cater to diverse finishing applications, the grade is available in a wide range of geometries and chipbreakers. Its compatibility with existing Seco toolholders allows manufacturers to integrate the TS0501 effortlessly into established production lines, enabling a seamless upgrade without additional investment.

Mikael Lindholm, Global Product Manager for General ISO Turning, explains the inspiration behind the development:
“When you’re machining modern, high-hardness aerospace components, there’s zero room for error. That’s exactly why we developed TS0501—to give manufacturers a tool they can trust to deliver flawless finishes, also on superalloys, shift after shift, even when no one’s watching the machine.”

A Strategic Leap for High-Precision Manufacturing

With the TS0501, Seco reinforces its commitment to addressing the evolving challenges of machining higher-performance materials. As OEMs move towards tougher alloys that demand greater heat resistance and structural integrity, the TS0501 provides the stability, reliability, and efficiency necessary to keep production competitive and future-ready.

This launch also strengthens Seco’s long-standing legacy as a global metal cutting leader. Originating from Fagersta, Sweden, and now present in more than 75 countries, Seco has spent nearly a century empowering manufacturers with advanced solutions across indexable milling, solid milling, turning, threading, holemaking, and tooling systems.

The TS0501 marks yet another milestone in that journey—setting a new benchmark for finishing high-hardness superalloys with unmatched precision.
