Seco is driving sustainability forward with Life Cycle Assessments (LCA), enabling informed environmental decisions and reinforcing its commitment to greener manufacturing.
LCA evaluates the environmental impact of products across their lifecycle, from raw material extraction to disposal, offering insights into metrics like CO2 emissions and other key indicators. This year, Seco launched initiatives targeting two key areas:
- Turning Inserts: A project in Fagersta, Sweden, assessed the environmental impact of Seco’s extensive insert portfolio.
- Round Tools: A pilot program in Lottum, Netherlands, developed a scalable LCA process for Solid End Mills, setting new benchmarks for environmental transparency.
By combining LCA data with cutting tool performance, Seco provides customers with a clear understanding of tooling impacts on manufacturing processes. Programs like the Reconditioning Program and Used Carbide Recycling further emphasize Seco’s sustainable approach.
In 2025, Seco plans to expand LCA coverage across its portfolio and enhance the MyPages platform with added sustainability data. Customers can use MyPages for quick quotations, tool recommendations, and centralized information access, enhancing their experience.
Seco’s LCA initiatives are not only improving internal processes but also empowering customers to achieve their sustainability goals.
