The ETP Heavy Duty HYDRO-GRIP (HGHD) is a powerful hydraulic power chuck, facilitating quick change tool changes, with a high level of precision tool clamping; The HGHD has no moving parts inside resulting in consistency of TIR and balance over its full life.
Further the HGHD has a high level of dampening properties because of a special clay like pressurizing media used which is characterized by a high level of bending stiffness; this dramatically reduces micro vibrations on the tool shank due to high radial forces generated by severe machining applications like full depth slotting or trochoidal machining, resulting in outstanding clamping security (no pull-out), and very long tool life in heavy duty milling operations.
ETP HYDRO-GRIP® HD combines all the positive benefits of hydraulic clamping, such as quicker tool-changes, longer tool-life, and improved surface finish with an extremely high tool clamping force capability and rigid design. A high bending stiffness and the dampening properties of the hydraulic pressure media makes ETP HYDRO-GRIP®HD the ideal holder for any machining, from heavy rough milling to finishing.
The ETP Heavy Duty HYDRO-GRIP® is essentially maintenance free – there are no moving parts that need regular adjustment, and the sealing design minimizes the leakage problems common in other hydraulic systems. Because the clamping mechanism is stable over time, the holder maintains its accuracy and concentricity throughout its life cycle, which gives consistent quality and predictable process capability. All holders are manufactured to achieve a total indicated runout of ≤ 0.004 mm measured at 2.5 times the tool diameter, which is a very demanding requirement. This high precision, combined with quick change clamping-declamping. Its high bending strength is what allows customers to safely increase cutting speeds and feeds while consistently keeping the dimensional accuracies of the component under tight control.

The ETP HG HD gives a high-clamping torque on the tool shank, especially on h6 tool shanks as shown below, which along with its extreme dampening properties minimizes pull-out in the High Speed Machining (HSM) strategies commonly used in D&M like contouring, cornering, slicing etc. The ETP HG HD is equally effective in Aerospace applications on difficult-to-machine materials like titanium & Inconel using HSM strategies like trochoidal machining.
High-precision reduction sleeves for different diameter tool shanks enable the ETP HGHD to be used in a wide range of applications. The sleeves are for both internal coolant and peripheral coolant applications.
