The future of industrial safety and digital transformation took a significant leap forward as Schmersal Global Competence Center (SGCC) inaugurated its new state-of-the-art facility in Pune, marking a major milestone in the company’s long-term vision for India. Spread across a 25,000 sq. ft. campus at AP4 Tech Park, Wagholi, Pune , the new facility is far more than a corporate office—it is a global innovation hub designed to develop next-generation machine safety technologies, digital engineering solutions, and smart automation systems for industries worldwide.
The inauguration also witnessed the launch of a dedicated Product Experience Center, where customers can experience Schmersal’s integrated machine safety ecosystem, engineering expertise, software-driven solutions, and digital technologies that are redefining industrial safety.
Speaking on the occasion, Ramji Singh, Managing Director, Schmersal India, described the expansion as a strategic investment in the future. He emphasized that relocating to a larger, company-owned facility reflects Schmersal’s growing commitment to strengthening global engineering, digital innovation, automation capabilities, and customer-centric safety solutions developed from India for international markets.
The event became even more significant with the unveiling of six innovative “Make in India” products, demonstrating India’s increasing role as a global manufacturing and product development centre within the Schmersal Group. These products have been engineered to address emerging industrial requirements across manufacturing, automotive, logistics, warehousing, infrastructure, and vertical transportation while delivering enhanced safety, operational efficiency, and digital connectivity.
Among the newly introduced innovations is the Safety Field Box Port Extender, designed to simplify connectivity and improve scalability across complex industrial automation systems. The Magnetic Switch offers a cost-effective, European-standard-compliant solution for reliable position monitoring, particularly suited for elevator applications. The highly responsive Fork Sensor provides precise infrared-based object detection for high-speed manufacturing environments, while the upgraded Safety Limit Switch Series delivers robust performance under demanding industrial conditions tailored specifically for Indian applications.
Further strengthening its safety portfolio, Schmersal introduced the Overspeed Governor Limit Switch, ensuring immediate detection when elevator systems exceed safe operating speeds, thereby enhancing passenger protection. Completing the product lineup is the Multi-level Parking Control System, an intelligent solution that enables secure, key-operated vehicle movement across automated parking facilities.
A unique attraction at the new campus is the Product Experience Center, where visitors can explore complete machine safety solutions rather than individual products. The centre demonstrates machine guarding systems, safety interlocking, access control technologies, software-based safety management, engineering consultancy, and compliance services delivered through tec.nicum, Schmersal’s global machine safety consulting division. Together with SGCC, these capabilities showcase how industrial machinery can be transformed into safer, smarter, and digitally connected production systems using Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platforms and intelligent engineering.
