Seco has introduced the X Tip Drill, a modular drilling solution designed to simplify holemaking across diverse materials and production requirements. Featuring one reusable drill body and exchangeable carbide tips, the system helps manufacturers reduce tool inventory, shorten setup times and achieve consistent drilling performance.
Designed for mixed production environments, the X Tip Drill covers 3xD, 5xD and 8xD drilling applications. Its patented pre-tensioned interface enables fast tip changes, while a double-sided key and axial locking system ensure secure replacement and repeatable accuracy.
Multiple tip geometries allow the same drill body to handle demanding materials. ISO P and M geometries support steels and stainless steels, while ISO K is designed for abrasive cast iron. A Flat Bottom geometry produces flat-bottom holes in a single operation, eliminating secondary machining steps.
According to Seco, the drill’s high-feed capability, optimised chip evacuation and self-centering geometry contribute to faster cycle times, improved hole quality and lower cost per hole.
The reusable drill body and replaceable, recyclable carbide tips also support more sustainable manufacturing.
Seco, headquartered in Sweden and operating in more than 75 countries, provides metal-cutting solutions for milling, turning, drilling, threading and tooling applications.
