Concentrated Production Knowledge Showcased in the Grinding Solution Park Science
The GrindingHub 2024 event, held from May 14 to 17 in Stuttgart, brought together leading production technology research institutes at the Grinding Solution Park Science in Hall 10, Stand 10D20. The event featured prominent institutions such as the IFW (Institute of Production Engineering and Machine Tools) at Leibniz University Hanover, inspire AG from Zürich, the ISF (Institute of Machining Technology) at TU Dortmund University, the IWF (Institute of Machine Tools and Factory Management) at TU Berlin, and the MTI (Manufacturing Technology Institute) at RWTH Aachen University.
The event served as a prime platform for exchanging ideas on innovations and developments in grinding technology. Prof. Dirk Biermann, Head of ISF at TU Dortmund, emphasized the significance of the event for shaping the industry’s future.
The participating institutes highlighted their latest research and industrial applications, focusing on advancing knowledge in cylindrical, surface/profile, tool, and vibratory grinding. Peter Breuer from MTI explained their aim to support industry challenges using decades of research expertise.
Key trends showcased included machining new materials, process reliability, predictive modeling, and sustainable production. Notable exhibits featured sensorized tool holders for high-speed bore grinding, additively manufactured grinding tools, and innovative diamond grinding tools.
Dr. Marcus Heering, Managing Director of GrindingHub organizer VDW, noted that the event successfully highlighted the synergies between research and industry, offering visitors a comprehensive view of the latest advancements in grinding technology.
