Marking World Environment Day on 5 June 2026, the Indian Cutting Tools Manufacturers’ Association (ICTMA) organised a tree plantation initiative in Pune, reaffirming the industry’s commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible manufacturing.
The initiative brought together leading personalities from India’s cutting tool and manufacturing sector, demonstrating that sustainable industrial growth goes hand in hand with environmental conservation. Through this plantation drive, ICTMA highlighted the importance of collective action in creating a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future for generations to come.
Leading the initiative was Anil Kumar, President, ICTMA and Managing Director, Plansee India High Performance Materials Ltd., along with Pravin Shirse, Vice President, ICTMA and Country President, Oerlikon Balzers Coating India Pvt. Ltd. (India & Asia). The event was coordinated by P. G. Subramanian, Executive Secretary, ICTMA, with enthusiastic participation from the association’s Executive Committee members and industry leaders.
The plantation drive witnessed active participation from Ramakant Reddy, Managing Director, LMT Tools India Private Limited; Santosh Ullal, Director & CEO, EMUGE-FRANKEN India; Mangesh Awate, General Manager, ZECHA Precision Tools Ltd.; Abhishek Gami, Managing Director, Rapicut Carbides Limited; and Rajiv Malhotra, Chief Operating Officer, Motherson Techno Tools Limited.
Speaking on the occasion, ICTMA representatives emphasised that environmental responsibility is no longer an option but a necessity for the manufacturing sector. As industries increasingly adopt sustainable manufacturing practices, initiatives such as tree plantation contribute towards reducing carbon footprints, enhancing biodiversity, and creating healthier communities.
